Hammers
Hammer is a metal ball employed for throwing in the athletic event named the 'hammer
throw'. The hammer is attached to a long handle (straight or curved) through a
spring steel wire whose maximum length can be 4ft. Like other throwing sporting
events, one who throws the hammer to the farthest distance wins the event. The
weight of the hammer differs for men and women, and is 16 lb and 8.82 lb respectively.
Hammer shells are made rust proof and are manufactured using metals such as stainless
steel, alloy steel, brass, and cast iron. The two most important points for long
hammer throw are speed of the ball and angle of release.
Discus
A Discus is a heavy lenticular disc, thicker at the center than perimeter, and is used to throw in athletics throwing event called the "discus throw". Discus is scrupulously thrown by creating a whirling movement made by the athlete within a circle of 8.2 ft in diameter. There are various types of Discuses in the market such as high spin discus, very high spin discus, center weighted discus, training discus. The weight of the discus differs for men and women, and the widely used metals & materials used for manufacturing discuses are plastics, rubber, wood, aluminum, etc.
