A Shuttlecock, also known as Shuttle, Birdie, Bird, etc., is a conical shaped high-drag projectile employed in the game of Badminton. The cone is manufactured from 16 overlapping goose feathers embedded into a rounded cork base, which is smoothly covered with a thin layer of leather. Shuttlecocks can be natural or synthetic; feathered shuttle is natural, while the plastic shuttles are synthetic. The playing characteristics of both these types of shuttles are different.
